Preparing Your FANUC Robots for Shutdown

Before powering down controllers, we recommend performing three actions to help preserve the information in your controllers, and to prepare for quick recovery once full production is safe to resume:

• Take an Image Backup of the controller
• Take a File Backup of the controller
• Check the controller alarm log for battery alarms

FANUC offers How-To videos and Quick-Reference Documents for Image and File backups available through their Customer Resource Center website. To check or replace the encoder backup batteries, please refer to the robot mechanical unit maintenance manual. To check or replace the CPU backup battery, please refer to the controller maintenance manual.
